One year Expiration Date.Historically Ta contamination in Nb starting materials has been problematic for trace level determinations. This impurity resulted in the need to find a starting material source with significantly lower levels of Ta. IV has found a new starting material that satisfies this requirement and has created a new Nb product for applications where Ta impurities create a problem. The major differences between Nb and Ta free Nb are the starting material purity (Ta free Nb has significantly less Ta impurity in the starting material) and acid content (Ta free Nb has a higher acid matrix content than the regular Nb product).While a cleaner product is advantageous for trace Ta determinations, we understand that the increase in matrix acid content can be problematic. At working levels, the acid content of Ta free Nb will be diluted and slightly elevated when compared to the regular Nb product. Carryover acid content can be accounted for during solution preparation to minimize the matrix effect. However, we are working on dissolution methods with less acid in attempts to resolve this issue.
